Chris Turner

Kirk Hallam Community Academy

Chris is the Head Teacher at Kirk Hallam Community Academy. He is an experienced senior leader, having worked across mainstream, special school and pupil referral unit settings.

Prior to joining Kirk Hallam, Chris spent more than a decade as a Senior Leader in two successful Nottinghamshire schools, leading on provision for students with special educational needs, vulnerable groups, safeguarding and post 16 education. During this time he secured positive outcomes for students, whilst lowering levels of exclusion and improving attendance to well in excess of national averages.

Chris is passionate about the development of the whole child and ensuring that all young people can succeed, regardless of their background or starting point. He has considerable expertise and in developing provision to support the mental health and wellbeing of students, using a multi-disciplinary approach.

In addition to his role as Head Teacher, Chris is also the Vice Chair of Governors at a Nottinghamshire primary school.
