Jason Carter

Jason is currently the Director of Governance and Assurance at the University of Nottingham, having joined the organisation in 2017. His current role involves leading the teams that support governance and assurance activities across the university including cyber security, information compliance, health and safety, risk management, business continuity and incident management.

Prior to joining the university, Jason was Chief Information Security Officer at Associated British Foods PLC (FTSE 100 Food Manufacturing, Retail and Pharmaceutical Research organisation) where he established a wide-ranging Information and Cyber Security programme for the global organisation. He was also accountable of risk management and IT Audit.

A large portion of his career was spent in the financial services sector working for Experian based in Nottingham, where he was Chief Information Security Officer for the UK, EMEA and Asia Pacific regions. 

Jason lives in Derbyshire with his wife, three daughters and his dog, Bailey.  He is a keen cyclist, DIY enthusiast and fan of both cricket and football being a life-long season ticket holder at his hometown club Rotherham United.
