Kelly Ryan

Robert Miles Infant School

Kelly is Head Teacher at Robert Miles Infant School in Bingham.

She joined the school in 2016 and became Deputy Head in January 2022, before being appointed as Head Teacher in April 2024. She has been teaching for over 20 years and has held various leadership positions in the three schools she has worked at, including phase leader for Early Years Foundation Stage in each school, and experience of leading in many subjects, including Maths and English at different points in her career. In her previous school, an inner-city primary school in Nottingham, Kelly was appointed as Assistant Head, with responsibility for whole-school curriculum development and design and phase leader for Key Stage 1.

Kelly is passionate about Early Years education because it lays the foundation for a child’s future success on their learning journey. With a strong belief in the importance of developing ‘how’ children learn, as well as ‘what’ they learn, Kelly has developed and implemented a bespoke ‘Positive Attitudes for Learning (PALs)’ whole school programme at Robert Miles Infants, based on the EYFS ‘Characteristics of Effective Learning’, which aims to develop children who are motivated, engaged and have the ability to think critically. She recognises how this supports positive learning behaviour both in school and beyond, as well as developing life-long learners.
